We take in more than we can consciously process. What happens to the rest?
In darkred interior, Austin artist Sean Muldrow transforms the human body into surreal, distorted forms that feel both beautiful and unsettling. Working in oil on canvas and ink on paper, Muldrow moves between instinct and intention, allowing images to emerge through gesture, color, and thousands of deliberate marks.
His figures seem caught between the physical and psychological, recognizable yet strange, as if something internal has found its way to the surface. Drawing from classical imagery, personal experience, and the subconscious, Muldrow creates work that resists easy interpretation while remaining deeply visceral.
Muldrow received his BFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design and maintains a studio at Canopy Austin. His practice moves fluidly between painting and drawing, developing a distinct visual language of distorted bodies, expressive color, and meticulous mark-making.
For collectors drawn to work that is unexpected, deeply internal, and visually arresting, darkred interior offers paintings and drawings that reveal something new the longer you look. These are works that ask to be lived with, inviting an ongoing encounter with beauty, discomfort, and the unfamiliar.
Original works are available for acquisition, with archival open-edition prints available for each work. Framing is available through Haus Obscura. For inquiries or to purchase, contact mark@hausobscura.com or call 512-595-3789.
